Aleksander Berentsen, Prof. Dr.
Aleksander Berentsen is currently Professor of Economics at the WWZ of the University of Basel and guest professor for monetary economics at the University of Zurich. The topics of his latest publications where money, credit and banking, the efficiency in search models of money and the distribution of money holdings and the non-neutrality of money. Member of the commission for «Geldtheorie und Geldpolitik» of the «Verein für Socialpolitik», the board of the «Vereinigung Basler Ökonomen», the European Economic Association, the Society of Economic Dynamics and the Econometric Society.

Paul Cheshire, Prof. Dr.
Paul Cheshire is Professor of Economic Geography and Convenor of the Department at the London School of Economics (LSE). His research focuses on urban land and housing markets, the economics of planning and European urban and regional development. He has a strong interest in policy analysis and policy related fields. These interests came together in the 1989 book Urban Problems in Western Europe: an economic analysis (Unwin Hyman). He also co-edited with E S Mills the Handbook of Regional & Urban Economics, Vol. 3: Applied Urban Economics, Amsterdam: North Holland, 1999. He was elected vice-President of the European Regional Science Association in 2002. Apart from his academic work he has spent time as an advisor and as a consultant for both the European Commission, the World Bank, the OECD, the UN and other international organisations as well as the UK government.

René Frey, Prof. Dr.
Professor Frey is an expert in regional politics and political economics, amongst which his input to the IBC Module Accessibility has been highly significant for the works in that specific location factor. Thanks to his retirement from the University in March 2004, he will be able to commit himself even more to various projects of BAK.

Peter Kugler, Prof. Dr.
Peter Kugler is currently Professor of Economics at the WWZ of the University of Basel, President of the Swiss Society of Economics and Statistics, Chairman of the Research Commitee on Monetary Economics of the «Verein für Socialpolitik» and external advisor to the SNB research department. The topics of his research are mostly in the fields of Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics and Applied Econometrics.

Carlos Lenz, Dr.
Carlos Lenz is a Deputy Director at the Swiss National Bank and Head of Inflation Forecasting. He is also in the Foundation Council of the Study Center Gerzensee and a member of the Committee for Monetary Theory and Policy of the “Verein für Socialpolitik”. Before joining the Swiss National Bank in 2006, he was an assistant professor of economics at the University of Basel and a visiting lecturer at the University of Fribourg. He has published in the areas of monetary economics and applied time series econometrics.
Urs Müller, Prof. Dr.
Studies at the universities of Basel and Harvard (Cambridge MA, USA), 1981-1984 junior economist at BAKBASEL, 1985-1989 senior assistant at the Basel University, 1989-1996 deputy director of   BAKBASEL, 1996-2005 head of the Financial Administration of the Canton Basel-Stadt, 2005 -2007 deputy director at BAKBASEL , 2007-2012 chief economist & director at BAKBASEL.  Urs Müller is also professor of economics at Basel University  (since 1998) , lecturing on empirical economic research and public finance.  As  of March 2012 president and chairman of the board of directors of the  Association of Swiss Cantonal Banks  (ASCB).
