With 2.6 percent growth in 2006 West European metropolitan regions showed a performance remarkably better than the West European average (2.1% from 2003-2006). This boost was mainly owed to the financial and business services. This is one of the key messages of BAK Basel Economics annual International Benchmarking Forum 2007 where delegates from more than 40 regions of 15 countries discussed the challenges to be faced.
