This paper summarises the key findings of the BAKBASELs Metro Edinburgh Economic Analysis and Benchmarking Report 2006. The report compares the performance of Metro Edinburgh against a range of international and UK comparator regions. It describes the current economic context for Metro Edinburgh and goes on to benchmark the region against 19 other metro regions. The benchmarking includes overall economic performance, sectoral strengths and weaknesses as well as the attractiveness of the region as a business location. The report identifies the key challenges facing the region and suggests some strategic options for the future economic development of the metropolitan region. |
