The morning programme gives a broad overview on many issues currently under consideration. Where are the biggest challenges and the issues we will have to cope with? An overview will also include issues such as demography and immigration. Andreas Knörzer will demonstrate what regions can learn about sustainability from asset managers. This year, the evening programme will be held at the Merian Park, part of one of the largest charitable foundations of Basel (since 1886). The Key Note Speech will be held by Prof. Michael Braungart. His CRADLE TO CRADLE (C2C) concept of eco-effectiveness presents a positive agenda based on maximizing the ability of industry to truly support the natural and human world around it. The successfully interdependent nature of biological systems suggests that achieving a sustainable system of consumption and production is not a matter of reducing the footprint of our activities on this planet, but transforming this footprint into a source of replenishment for those systems that depend on it. After the keynote speech, guided tours at the Bio Farm of Merian Park are offered (German and English language). The farm is also an educational project for the pupils in the region of Basel; roughly 600 students visit specific courses and tours at the farm each year.
